MSC-Certified Sustainable Fisheries

Zeelandia van Belzen is certified according to the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and offers a comprehensive range of high-quality products from MSC-certified fisheries.

What is the MSC?

The MSC was launched in 1997 to provide a solution to the global problem of overfishing. The MSC is a non-profit, independent organisation dedicated to protecting the world's seas. The MSC seal is the world's most recognised sign for sustainable fishing.

Vision and Mission of MSC

The MSC vision is of the world’s oceans teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. That is why it is MSC's mission to use its ecolabel and fishery certification program to contribute to the health of the world’s oceans by recognising and rewarding sustainable fishing practices, influencing the choices people make when buying seafood and working with our partners to transform the seafood market to a sustainable basis.

This means that the MSC is committed to sustainable development in the fishery sector and is working to promote the certification of fisheries that are environmentally friendly. The MSC certifies fisheries. It does not certify certain fish species, stocks, or aquaculture. The certification programs presuppose a complete certification of the entire chain, i.e. also the company restaurant. The international headquarters of the MSC is London.
